A clockwork orange

Stanley Kubrick is the grand master afterall! This movie, like his many others, fits perfectly into the definition of parallel cinema. At one point, the viewer wonders whether its a live recording of some stage drama/broadway show. Every set is spectacular, the use of shadows, light and colors is phenomenal. Based on the original novel by Anthony Burgess, it leaves its effects on the mind for many days. Its interepretation is very subjective and I think the movie overall has a deeper meaning to it. Its a satire depicting life of a young man who is naturally driven by violence and an urge to break all existing norms. But neither the society nor himself accept his natural way of living life. Instead, he fits into the typical definition of a 'bad boy', is rejected by everyone and thus is send to be a guinea pig for this process of 'cleansing' of his mind to stop him from doing all the nonsense. In the end, he is released being 'cured', which he is not. And the govt realises that the 'cleasing process' actually wasnt so authentic after all, so they just deny the effectiveness of it and apologise to this guy. Overall, it just sarcastically tells how the world decides the typical norms of living one's life and how people behave as a clock....all helpless and all mechanical!!!
